When you file your bankruptcy with our firm we do our best to shoulder as much of the work as possible leaving only a few select tasks we cannot complete to the responsibility of the client. Among these tasks is the completion of the Debtor Education Financial Management Course.

A certificate of completion for the course is required to be filed 30 days after your bankruptcy hearing. You will receive a letter from us often giving you a much sooner due date. We intentionally give you an earlier due date to encourage you to get this done as soon as possible.

In well over 95% of our cases, attending your hearing and completing this course are the only two things you need to complete after your case is filed. Some people fail to recognize the importance of the course and wait until the last minute to get it done. This can be dangerous because your case will be dismissed and you will not get the bankruptcy relief that you were seeking if you do not file the certificate of completion in time.

If your case is dismissed for such a reason we can fix this for you; however, you will incur more attorney fees and a hefty $260 additional filing fee imposed by the Court. A fee that size almost doubles your total filing fees.

You can easily avoid all of those headaches by completing the course before you hearing. Once you file you will receive a letter from our firm with detailed instructions on how to complete the course.
