Can a Creditor Contact Me Through Social Media?

In Florida case Melanie Beacham v. MarkOne Financial, LLC, Judge W. Douglas Baird’s ruling barred creditors from using social media sites to try to collect on debts. This included “digital cupcakes.” Digital cupcakes lead you into click on a message or link with the pretense of something else and then once you click on it, they try to collect a debt.

Since Judge Baird’s ruling in this case, these incidences have decreased. However, if a creditor is attempting to collect a debt from you in such a way, it’s very important that you contact an attorney to protect yourself from such harassment and further protect your income and assets. contact an attorney can represent you in court to make sure that the creditor does not take anything they are not entitled to and give you expert legal advice regarding your options in protecting your assets and income.
